I realized that we have yet to cover John McCain's positive points, and since this should be about voting for someone more than voting against someone, I'm going to tell a story (and also because I still don't know when to shut up).

A few month ago, I actually thought voting Obama might be a good idea. I didn't like McCain. I was bitter about some of the things he did in the primaries, and Obama is such a likable guy. I noticed something, though....

I'm still not well versed in the tax plans, so details on that I really can't argue for or against with anyone.... I do think that there shouldn't be tax cuts for those making the highest salaries though. If you're making over $250,000 or whatever, you can afford to pay more taxes. I know, you worked hard to get the money you're making, but let's face it.... even after taxes, you still have a lot of money. Help out the people who don't make as...

One more thing. It really, really bugs me to hear the slogan, "Are you better off than you were eight years ago?" because for a large portion of that time we have had a Democratic Congress. Congress is who has the biggest impact on our laws, our taxes, etc. Obama has been part of the majority party in the Senate for four years, so what has he done to fix things?

There are just one or two things I want to address, and I'll leave the rest to GK.

Mostly I want to address the issue of taxes, because that was my turn-around point, when I really knew which candidate I was going to vote for. The conventional wisdom is what you say - poor people pay too many taxes, while rich people can stand to pay more. I was really curious one day about just how many taxes are currently paid by each group, so I did some research and found

Then again, I'm not one of the people that think the Bill Ayers connection is silly. He actively cavorted and moved his political career forward by such connection with a domestic terrorist. Period.

Obama wants to come back and say that he was 8 when Ayers was bombing... True... but in an incredibly irony, it was the September 11, 2001 issue of Newsweek wherein he said he was disappointed that he didn't bomb more... Was Obama 8 in 2001? He was friends with this guy...

The mob mentality I find everywhere I look is getting depressing. I think Obama as president doesn't scare me as much as why he is going to be president.
